HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy 2009 everyone! I'm heading to San Diego and Mexico next week, so I will bring you a lot of soap pictures from there. Mistral Soap is headquartered there, I wonder if they'll allow us to tour their warehouse? I'll have to brush up on my negotiating skills - i'll keep you posted...

We are changing to an all GREEN packaging!!!

When I'm telling you guys that we are BUSY, I'm not kidding! We did a little modification of our double scented soaps packaging. Instead of a plastic box, we now wrap them in recycled paper. We figured, if the environment is good to us, we should be good to it!

and did i mention...

the coolest thing about the "vintage bars" is that when you open up the paper, it becomes an 8.5 by 11 inch photograph. Most shots were taken in the city, with the exception of the animals :)

Presenting...

The VINTAGE bars have arrived. I'm just fixing some last minute photos but you'll see them all on the website tomorrow! I am super excited - I know I say this often but these are my new absolute favorites!! The packaging consists of black and white photos printed on recycled paper. The vintage collection includes 2 soap bars in each package. No dyes are used on these guys, so they'll be both white. Just as our other soaps, they're made from 100% vegetable oils.

They come in 12 fabulous fragrances:

1. French Vanilla
2. Orange
3. Cranberry Fig
4. Lemon Verbena
5. English Rose
6. Currant (hot seller!)
7. Chocolate
8. Mint
9. Coconut Cream
10. Honeydew Melon
11. Pear
12. Sugar

All righty, so I know this isn't exactly soap related, but I found this cute little guy and I couldn't resist to put him on here. How can he not make you smile :)

Ice Cream Soap - no... YES!!! We found it!

Wow, do we have a couple of amazing products that we're launching very VERY soon! I can't really discuss them because they are TOP SECRET but I can tell you that they're awesome. Meanwhile, enjoy some of my soap finds of today below:

Great soap window display. Maybe we should take a couple of pointers for when we open our own store.

This is the niftiest thing I've seen in a while - Ice Cream soap!!! We'll have to figure out how they made it scoopable but it's an amazing idea. This comes from a store in Tokyo (note to self: visit Japan NOW!)

Mini bath bombs in a pouch. As some of you may know, most bath bombs are made from citric acid however we just created our own little recipe without using acid at all. It'll be fabulous!

Lots of soaps in the window... and I love the 'cheese wedges' on the bottom :)

Double Sided Scent Soaps

So I decided to play around with some of our double sided scent soaps yesterday and this is the outcome. They looked so appealing, I wanted to eat one! Especially the chocolate mint. If we can only use magic and figure out how to make them both soaps and food, then life would be perfect ;)

Whipped Soaps around the world

Whipped soap is the latest craze in soap products - it's almost as if you were using whip cream on your body but not entirely edible :)
Here are some awesome products that we found:

Love spell whipped soap

looks like chocolate fudgy, remember - don't eat it!

Sesame Honey sounds yummy

Mmm Blueberry

New Packaging - Yummy Whipped Soap

We're getting new packaging! We are launching a whipped soap line in the coming weeks and the packaging is already in the works. The new line is a lot of fun, just a little dab will create an explosion of bubbles. We can't wait for you to try them!

The Owl Fascination!

I've turned into a really big owl aficionado lately. I don't know what it is but they just make me happy when I see those big eyes, cute little ears, and fluffy tail. Oh all right, I'm not sure if they have a tail but they are adorable, right?

Eternal Sunshine - Since I'm on Etsy 24 hrs a day I couldn't help but stumble across these insanely cute owl soaps in their handmade scarfs. I wish the scarf could fit me, but I guess you can't expect to get everything for $6.75

InkJet - I know it's not a soap, but this plate is unbelievably stunning. If it's small, it would make an amazing soap dish.

Fruityflypie - And lastly, the owl soap dish - where no house should be without one! They make them in a variety of colors but they're all equally as beautiful.

Bath Bombs Galore!

So, I've been doing a lot of research lately on bath bombs. Hopefully you'll see them on our website in less than a month. You guys know we have to make them extra unique, so I'm working on some interesting ones that you haven't seen anywhere. They're gonna be great! If you are dying to have a certain fragrance, let us know because we are working on those right now. We'll also try and make 'em all natural and get rid of any kind of unnecessary preservatives. After all, all of our products are made after you order.

Lush - I personally love the lush stores, however they do use perfumes for their bath bombs (and a lot of their other products) and that's not really the best way to go. They do smell good though.

I just found this on flickr. It is Amanda Bel's first bath bombs - pretty awesome for a first try! Maybe we should hire her :) These bath bombs look an awful lot like a christmas tree.

These guys are made by Morgan Street. I sure hope they smell as good as they look.

I had to blog about this - this is NOT a fish shop (although the title says halibut and herring). Believe it or not it's actually a store in England entirely filled with bath bombs. I wonder if they have herring scented bath bombs...

Uniquely Wrapped Soaps in Fabric and Decorative Paper

I usually stress about packaging all the time - after all, customers won't just buy your product based on how great it is for you. I prefer simpler designs than anything too busy. You just want to get right to the point - what kind of soap is it? what does it smell like? how much does it weight? who is the company?

Here are some samples of soap makers that, I think, did an awesome job at presenting their soaps.

The Soap Sediction - wrapped in a cellophane bag. The colors are vibrant and they will definitely stand out in a store. After all, people are drawn to color.

Love this! I think they used satin fabric to wrap it instead of decorative paper. It just looks so soft, you want to pick it up and touch it!

I usually wouldn't go for the antique style but this design is so simple that it works extremely well. It deferentiates the product from other soap companies and it clearly states what the fragrance is. Don't you have product packaging where it takes you 10 minutes to figure out what the product is??

I don't know if these soaps are Rose scented, but they sure look like it. I love the monogrammed R in the middle. You almost don't even notice it, because it's so detailed. Collage packaging is definitely a good way to go.

Another soap which looks like it might be wrapped with fabric. The newest trend in the soap world.

Well if you have a lot of money to spend on custom packaging, this is the one to go for. Love the unique shape and the complementing colors. It almost looks like a luxury house for your bath products. Stunning!
